Khairul Anuar Ahmad Zainuddin, better known as Jonah, was the co-founder of the student activist group Universiti Bangsar Utama (UBU) during the reformasi period in Malaysia which began in 1998.
He was a former electrical engineering student at Institut Kemahiran Mara (IKM) and he was also the former Ketua Angkatan Muda Keadilan Selangor.

In 2001, he was arrested under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for allegedly engaging in activities that could ‘threaten national security’. After 23 days of detention under the ISA, he was released.

After graduating college, he continued to be active in the Trade Union. He was exposed to the struggle of trade unions during a visit to Indonesia and the Philippines during his time with UBU. In 2005, after several years of being active with the Labor Resource Center (LRC) led by YB Tian Chua, he joined the Kesatuan Pekerja-perkerja Perkayuan Semenanjung Malaysia as an Education Officer under the leadership of Khalid Atan.
